Solar plus storage is the next wave of innovation in energy tech

Against a backdrop of recent power shutoffs and electrical grid concerns in the Southwestern U.S., Panasonic North America debuted its newest energy storage solution to match surging demand.  Panasonic N.A. introduced the EverVolt solar battery systems at the Solar Power International (SPI) conference in late September 2019 and licensed Panasonic Partners like Sunbright Solar are beginning installations.

The systems are sized and designed for residential and small to medium-sized commercial projects, and make for exceptionally easy scaling and installation. Components are small enough to be easily managed by a single solar installer.

System sizes have a wide range of customizability and can be scaled from 5.7kWh of energy storage, or to as high as 34.2kWh.

The system can supply 7000 watts (7.0kW) of continuous power, just one more notable achievement from Panasonic’s Solar and Battery Divisions in recent years.  Other notable records include the world-record best consistency-of-production in hot environments (temperature coefficient); and the HIT solar panel line recently surpassing the 20% efficiency level.

EverVolt marks the debut of Panasonic’s small to mid-sized battery systems

While Panasonic and Pika Energy have partnered for years on the SafeHarbor Battery system, this marks the first home or small business scale offering produced by the electronics leader.  Former battery offerings were built with a team hailing from engineering leader MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), but this marks the first time Panasonic has built a system completely in-house.

In addition to no single component reaching over 60 lbs., the system is also notable for its “field-serviceability,” or easy access and trouble-shooting features.
